(beauty tips) You might have had a tiring day and you really want to hit the bed, but your brain JUST WON’T SWITCH OFF. Sometimes it is just hard to stop thinking about stressful situations. But, here is what you can do to get yourself to relax and fall asleep quickly.
1. Take a hot shower.
Step into the shower before you get in bed. And put some drops of lavender essential oil. A drop in body temperature helps to make you feel snoozy. When you take a hot bath, your body’s temperature rises and the rapid cool-down that occurs later will help you relax.

2. Shut off your electronics.
This is not the first time you’ve heard that you must keep your phone away before you retire for the day. That is because the light hitting the retina confuses your brain into thinking it’s still daytime, making you feel more alert.
3. Set a bed time.
You need to set a time to sleep and you need to stick to it. Just the way you did in school days. Just because no one is there to discipline you, you shouldn’t sit in front of the television watching your favourite show till 3 a.m. When you continuously throw off your internal clock you don’t get enough sleep because the alarm is waking you up before you’ve had enough sleep.

4. Avoid caffeine intake.
If you have caffeine in any form before bed, it’s going to keep you active and up like an owl. So, just drink a glass of warm water or warm milk before bed.
5. Wear socks.
It can be a bit uncomfortable to wear socks to bed but socks help to keep your feet warm, which in turn helps you sleep faster. If your feet are cold falling asleep just gets harder. Just wear those old loose socks of yours.
6. Don’t check the time.
If you have trouble sleeping then you need to hide your clock, as you might always be anxious that you can’t fall asleep. So, you need to lose track of time and eventually you will be able to fall asleep.
7. No heavy dinners.
It’s a fact well-known that the last meal of the day should be the lightest and for good reason, as a heavy meal might give acid reflux and heartburn and would cause discomfort which would keep you up.
8. Drink chamomile tea.
Chamomile tea is a sleeping remedy that’s been used as a natural sleep aid since ancient times. It relaxes the nerves and acts as a mild sedative.
9. Breathing technique.
There is a technique called 4-7-8 technique which helps you sleep faster. All you have to do is first breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds, then hold your breath for 7 seconds, and then blow the air out from your mouth for 8 seconds (making a whoosh sound). Repat the process three times and you will be out in no time.
