Bollywood recreates history

Bollywood is still not high on making futuristic film, unlike its counterpart where futuristic films are still widely watched. In fact, Bollywood seems to have a strong liking for going back in time. And with a number of upcoming films recreating past or historical events, it only reinforces the belief.

Dibakar Banerjee and Sushant SinghRajput come together to bring to life one of the most cherish detectives in India, Byomkesh Bakshi. Dibakar, who has already proved his mettle with movies like Khosla Ka Ghosla and Shanghai, it seems it would make for a great watch.

John Abraham on the other hand, is all set to play a yesteryear wrestler named Gama Pehalvan in Parmeet Sethi’s next, which also happens to be his home production. Gama Pehelvan, who remained unbeaten in various of his fights, sure makes for an interesting subject.

Bollywood’s love affair seems to continue with Mumabi as Sanjay Gupta prepares to recreate Mumbai of the mid 90′s in a film named Mumbai Saga. While, Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, and Manoj Bajpayee have been confirmed for a film that talks about men who rose to the heights of personal achievements from nowhere, other actors are yet to be finalized.

It seems like a good coming year for Vir Das, who has various movies lined up for him. For now he is all set to play a Sikh in a film that deals with the Sikh riots of the 1980′s. Vir Das is currently busy preparing for the role that requires him to bulk up for the role of a Sikh.

Moving away from romantic comedies, Kunal Kohli is all set to recreating Great Bombay Textile Mill Strike that shook Mumbai in 1982 in a film named Vartak Nagar. With Jimmy Shergill and Raghu Ram in the lead roles, the movie seems like quite an entertainer.
