Is Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Bhoomi’ similar to Sridevi’s ‘Mom’ & Raveena Tandon’s ‘Matr’
Bollywood seems to have joined Save Our Daughter campaign. There have been three back to back releases where a parent has been show as a protector, standing up for their daughter’s integrity when the lawmakers failed to do so.
First it was Raveena Tandon’s ‘Maatra’ where the actress was seen taking a revenge from the gang who raped her teenage daughter. Then came Sridevi in the role of ‘Mom’ who seeks justice for the rape of her teenage daughter after lawmakers failed to get her justice. Now, Sanjay Dutt is also making a comeback with a film based on the similar lines. The only difference here is Bhoomi is also a revenge drama exploring the father daughter relationship. At the trailer launch of the film, Sanjay Dutt was asked about the in your face similarities between the three films and Dutt didn’t deny it. The 59 year old actor said, “I know that recently Sridevi, Raveena Tandon also did similar movies where they play the protector but a father protecting his daughter is something else all together. If u have a father you’ll understand.”
Dutt may be the male version of daughter’s protector seen before, but the actor is proud of his choice of film after a gap of 3 years. Sanju baba even said, “The story of the film is very emotional and I thought if I have to come back after 3 years what better way to do it than with an emotional film, one that portrays father- daughter relationship.” The actor is doting father to his daughter Trishala who stays in the US, and decided to launch the trailer of his film on beti’s birthday.
