n pics | Deepika Padukone joins father Prakash Padukone as he receives Lifetime Achievement Award – Deepika Padukone is riding high on success with her latest cinematic outing Padmaavat being steady at the box office with no signs of slowing down. But now it seems, Deepika has another reason to beam with joy and pride as her father Prakash Padukone, an ace badminton player, was felicitated in New Delhi last night.
The former Indian shuttler was conferred with the Badminton Association of India’s (BAI) first Lifetime Achievement Award by Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. Deepika along with mother Ujjala and sister Anisha joined her father at the award ceremony.
While Deepika was dressed in a beautiful peach-coloured silk sari and completed her look with a low bun and earrings, her mother Ujjala and sister Anisha too opted for Indian outfits. Several fan pages have shared the pictures from the night.
The entire Padukone family posed together for a beautiful picture too.
Badminton player PV Sindhu shared a selfie with the caption, “Many congratulations to Prakash Padukone sir for the Lifetime Achievement Award and also had a lovely time with the family and with one of my favourite Deepika Padukone.”
Deepika too shared the invitation card on Instagram.
Meanwhile, in his acceptance speech, Prakash Padukone said, “It is a privilege for me to receive this lifetime achievement award in its inaugural year. I played badminton at a time when not many knew what the sport was all about. I am glad to have played a small part in what game has achieved today. I played purely for the love of the game without expecting anything in return. And to see how much I can challenge myself despite there being no facilities.”
Moreover, Deepika recently revealed that her parents were proud of her work in Padmaavat and said, “My parents are immensely proud. I saw that pride on their face. Mom and dad made a video call after their screening finished late at night and I was in my pyjama and going to bed. So for them, they just saw the film and then me… So, their expression was like, ‘Is she our daughter?’ I saw their expression and they were both brimming and glowing with pride,”
Aren’t the Padukone setting some serious family goals?
