Reena and Ashok Wadhwa’s Hosted Dinner at Jaipur Literature Festival 2016

Ashok Wadhwa (CEO, Ambit Holdings) and his wife Reena, hosted an exclusive dinner to welcome renowned economist, Thomas Piketty, to the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival 2016. As the sun came down on the second day of the Festival, an array of wordsmiths, corporate leaders and the crème-de-la-crème of high society came together for the sit-down dinner, which was co-hosted with the producers and directors of the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival, at the Taj Rambagh Palace, Jaipur.


The guest list included the likes of Mr. Leo and Mrs. Avni Puri, Mr. Vikram and Mrs. Tasneem Mehta, Mr. Punit and Mrs. Shreyasi Goenka, Mr. Naushad Forbes, Mr. Ronnie Screwvala, Ms. Zarina Mehta, Mrs. Bijal Meswani, acclaimed author Mr. Thomas Piketty and his wife, Julia, Mr. Suhel Seth, author and comedian Mr. Stephen Fry, Mr. Jonathan Shainin, Mr. David Mrs. Michal Grossman, Marie Brenner and Indian super-model Lakshmi Menon, among others.


Hosts Mr. Ashok and Mrs. Reena Wadhwa and ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival Director, Mr. Sanjoy Roy, warmly greeted guests. Invitees were seen mingling over drinks and hors d’oeuvres, as they animatedly discussed the earlier line-up of events. Mr. Ashok WadhwaThomas Piketty and the other authors and guests present at the table with a few words, saying, “we are delighted that Thomas and Julia have decided to accept our invitation and join us for this dinner. We think of this as a very special occasion and it certainly would not have been this special if all of you had not been with us tonight.”


As he thanked his hosts, graciously, for a wonderful evening, Mr. Piketty said, “I was not aware that I was supposed to speak tonight but it is a great honor to be here tonight an being able to come to Jaipur Literature Festival 2016. It is more important than ever today to have a gathering like Jaipur Literature Festival and I am really looking forward to being a part of the event over the next few days.”


Guests were treated to delectable Rajasthani delicacies like Laal Maas, Ker Sangri ki Subzi, Gatta Curry, Dal Baati Churma andRabdi Malpuaover a thaali meal, while being entertained by traditional Rajasthani instrumental performances. A signed copy of Piketty’s book, ‘Capital in the Twenty-First Century’ was gifted to everybody present at the occasion.
