ridevi’s ashes immersed in Rameswaram; Boney Kapoor, Janhvi and Khushi perform Asthi Visarjan – The ashes of Bollywood superstar Sridevi were immersed in the sea at Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu on Sunday.
Sridevi, 54, died on February 24 in a Dubai hotel. The body of Bollywood icon was flown back to Mumbai on February 27 after Dubai authorities had determined that she had accidentally drowned in her hotel bathtub.
The actor’s Asthi Visarjan ritual was performed by Husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi and Khushi.
A picture of the Kapoor family performing the ritual was shared by photographer Manav Manglani on Instagram.
An urn carrying the ashes of Sridevi was reportedly brought to Chennai on Friday in a special aircraft.
The body of the actor, who was born in a village in Tamil Nadu and started her career in Tamil films, was cremated on February 28. Her death sent shock waves across India with those who knew her, at a loss to explain how the star could die so suddenly.
The actress was in Dubai to attend a family wedding. Her last release was Mom in which she played the protagonist. Sridevi will be seen on the silver screens for the last time in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming Aananad L Rai film titled Zero. It is slated to hit the theatres in December this year.
Meanwhile, Boney Kapoor opened up about the death of Sridevi to Komal Nahta, the film trade analyst.
Boney recounted the ‘detailed account of what exactly transpired on the fateful evening of February 24’ to Nahta, who has shared the conversation in a blog on his Twitter handle.
Following the death of his beloved wife, Boney Kapoor had posted an emotional note from her account bidding goodbye to the ‘love of his life’.
Boney Kapoor expressed gratitude towards family and friends stating, “?I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my family, friends, colleagues who have stood by us like rocks. I am blessed to have the support and love of Arjun and Anshula, who have been such pillars of strength for myself, Khushi and Janhvi. Together, as a family, we have tried to face this unbearable loss.”
“To the world, she was their Chandni, but to me, she was my love, my friend, mother to our girls, my partner. To our daughters, she was their everything, their life,” it further read.
