Prernaa Arora

When Prernaa Arora’s first film as a producer, Rustom, won the National Award this year, it wasn’t just the audience’s expectations that went up, but also her own. The co-founder of KriArj Entertainment believes that competition will always drive them to work harder and do better. “We have to prove ourselves time and time again. We just need to keep going at it,” she says. Now, with the trailer of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha garnering appreciation from everyone, Prernaa says that they want to back socially-relevant and inspiring projects. “It’s a deliberate move in that direction,” she adds.

Teaming up with Akshay

Working with Akshay Kumar after Rustom has been a pleasure, says Prernaa. “As an actor, he’s a powerhouse performer and as a producer, he possesses a wealth of knowledge. Working with him has been a great learning experience,” she says.

There have been talks about her being a female producer, but Prernaa doesn’t care about it. “I’m here to work and that’s all I’m interested in,” says she, adding that she prefers the business side of movies to direction. As for KriArj Entertainment’s future, their roster reveals that they have a great line-up. “There is Parmanu with John Abraham, Pari with Anushka Sharma, and Fanney Khan with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. Post that, Vishal Bhardwaj’s film with Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone, and more projects in the pipeline,” says Arjun N Kapoor, co-founder of KriArj Entertainment.

Not going digital yet

While many production houses are venturing into the digital content space, this duo tells us that the for the next five years at least, their focus will be completely on movies. “We want to make good films and for that, we want to

associate with good people,” Prernaa signs off.
