The Fast and Furious movies are on a mission to reach newer heights of mind-boggling stunts with each installment. The Fate of the Furious is no different.
In the new trailer released on Thursday, viewers get the first look of Charlize Theron’s villainess Cipher. According to Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody, “she is the very definition of high-tech terrorism”. Theron literally herds the automobiles running on the streets by hacking into their systems while sitting at her desk in a secret lair, with platinum blonde dreadlocks making her look mysterious.
That’s not all. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Agent Hobbs is one step ahead! As the ‘Fast and Furious’ family is trying to shake off a submarine from their tail (You read that right. Yes, a submarine is chasing cars on the icy planes of Earth). Hobbs literally changes the path of a torpedo aimed at them with his left hand!! (The insanity of this scene is represented in these two exclamation marks.)
The trailer doesn’t shine a light on why Theron’s techie villain is doing all this, but the presence of that cross chain indicates that Vin Diesel’s Dominic Torreto is working for her because in one way or the other she threatened to harm his love Letty, played by Michelle Rodriguez.
This is the first Fast and Furious movie since the death of Paul Walker. The franchise is moving on.
The eighth movie in the series is directed by F Gary Gray. Apart from the mainstays, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron are starring in the movie releasing on April 14.
