oah! Kalki Koechlin to rap along with Ranveer Singh in Zoya Akhtar film ‘Gully Boy’ – 2018 seems like a good year for Ranveer Singh. The actor’s much-awaited film ‘Padmaavat’ is going to hit screens this month while he has begun working on his film with Zoya Akhtar.
‘Gully Boy’ not only features Alia Bhatt along with Mr Singh but has also got Kalki Koechlin on board The actress who has worked with Zoya AKhtar in her 2014 multi-starrer Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, gets to play an interesting character this time around as well.
According to Mumbai Mirror report, the 34 year old actress will be playing the role of a rapper in the film inspired by the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy from Mumbai’s slums. Alia and Ranveer have been attending script reading sessions at the filmmaker’s residence, while Kalki is expected to join the duo soon.
Ranveer is reportedly gung-ho about Zoya’s film. He is happy to move from an angry character of Allaudin Khilji in Padmaavat to a character who follows his dreams and becomes a star in his own right in Gully Boy. Apparantely, the character that Ranveer plays in is very much like himself — happy, cheerful and quirky. The actor has also undergone mane metaphorsis for the film as well.
Earlier in an interview to DNAAfterHrs, Alia Bhatt shared her excitment about his project. She said, “Ranveer is a complete crackpot. I have worked with him in ads, and I think I have an idea about what shooting is going to be like. I’m excited because Gully Boy is an emotional story, and our characters are very interesting, so it will be a unique combination. I have always wanted to work with Zoya (Akhtar), who I think is absolutely fab. This year, I am working with two actors and two directors who I’ve always wanted to work with.”
